TGSonar editorial team
Articles here are signed by the project's editorial team. This page says who that is, what data we write from, and how we handle mistakes.
Who writes this
The blog is written by the project's editorial team — the same people who build the catalogue and compute the score. There are no individual bylines, and that is deliberate: what is written here rests on measurements of the database rather than on one writer's experience, and the project as a whole stands behind it.
What the articles are based on
Our own measurements. The catalogue is re-checked every night: whether an object still exists, whether a bot answers, how many views a channel's posts collect, and who links to it. Everything that reaches an article comes from that database.
We do not retell other people's listings, and we do not publish figures that channel owners report about themselves. Where a number is calculated rather than measured, the article says how. The scoring itself is documented in the methodology.
How the figures are checked
Every figure is read from the database on the day of publication, and that date is printed at the top of the article. Data moves: a channel with twenty-five thousand subscribers yesterday may have twenty-four today. An article is therefore a snapshot with a date on it, and we do not quietly rewrite old numbers.
What we do not do
- We do not sell places in the rating or mentions in articles: no component of the score can be influenced by the owner of an object.
- We do not publish judgements that cannot be checked against public data.
- We do not write about things we have not measured.
If we got something wrong
Write to hello@tgsonar.com with the page address and what is wrong. We fix errors and we do not hide them: the article gets an update date, and the text keeps a note of what changed.
