Where the data comes from

tgsonar.com is an informational directory. Everything we hold about an object — name, description, avatar, subscriber count, post reach, whether a bot is reachable and how fast it answers — is collected automatically from public t.me pages: no sign-in, no access to private content, no reading of anyone's messages.

Every value is accurate as of the last check, and the date of that check is shown on the card. Figures move between checks, so we make no claim that a number on a card will match what you see in Telegram right now.

What the score is

The score and the position within a category are the output of a formula published on the Methodology page. It is our assessment expressed as a number: an opinion, not a statement of verifiable fact, and not a claim about the quality, reliability or good faith of an object's owner.

The formula, the weights and the date of the last recalculation are open: anyone can repeat the calculation and arrive at the same result. If you believe the input data is wrong, send us your figures and we will recompute.

What the labels mean

Labels on a card describe what the measurements showed and how we read those measurements — nothing more:

• "t.me page unavailable" — the page at that address did not open on the date shown.
• "Name does not match the brand in the description" — two fields on the object's own page contradict each other.
• "Metrics disagree" — subscriber growth and the change in views diverged by more than the threshold set out in the Methodology. The underlying numbers are shown alongside.

No label claims that an owner broke the law, deceived anyone or bought subscribers. How to dispute, clarify or remove an entry is set out on the Rules page.

This is not advertising and not a recommendation

All cards are laid out identically, objects are grouped by category, and the order within a category is set by the formula. A position is not for sale, cannot be arranged by agreement, and does not depend on whether the owner has placed anything with us.

Presence in the catalogue and a high score are not advice to subscribe, install a bot, buy anything, or hand over money or data. The decision and its consequences are yours.

About the ranking algorithm

The order of objects is set by an automatic ranking algorithm. It uses only measured values of the objects themselves; nothing about a visitor's preferences — browsing history, behaviour, profile — is collected or allowed to affect the output, so everyone sees the same order.

Other people's names, faces and words

Some channels are run by private individuals. A card shows only what the author has already made public on their own Telegram page, and only as much as search and comparison require. On request from the owner, a card about an individual is removed — the procedure and timing are on the Rules page.

Fragments of descriptions and avatars are reproduced as quotations for informational purposes with attribution to the source. Telegram, Telegram Messenger and the related marks belong to Telegram Messenger Inc.; this project is not affiliated with Telegram, not endorsed by it and not its partner or representative.

Responsibility for the content of channels, bots and any external resources our links point to rests with their owners: we neither create, moderate nor vet that content.

Personal data (Russian law 152-FZ)

The catalogue describes channels and bots, not their subscribers. Even so, some channels are run by individuals, and a card may contain their personal data — usually a name or handle and a link to a public page. In processing this data the project follows Russian Federal Law No. 152-FZ of 27.07.2006 on personal data.

What we do and do not do:

• we take only what a person has made public on their own Telegram page, and only to the extent needed to search and compare channels;
• we do not collect or publish subscriber lists, contacts, phone numbers, addresses or anything closed by privacy settings;
• we do not combine data from different sources into a profile of a person and do not pass it to third parties.

The legal basis for processing publicly available data is part 2 of article 6 and article 8 of 152-FZ (data whose access the subject has granted to an unlimited circle of persons). The subject may at any time demand that processing stop: on request to hello@tgsonar.com the card of an individual is removed or the relevant fields are hidden within the timeframe stated in the Rules. No justification for the request is required.

Financial activity (Russian AML law 115-FZ)

The project is an information and reference catalogue. It carries out no operations with money or other property, accepts and transfers no payments, provides no currency, crypto or money-transfer services, and does not bring together parties to such operations. For that reason the obligations set by Russian Federal Law No. 115-FZ of 07.08.2001 on countering the laundering of criminally obtained income and the financing of terrorism do not apply to it: the project is not a subject of that law.

Channels and bots whose subject is money exchange or transfer, accepting payments outside the established order and similar operations are not included in the catalogue — this is fixed in the Rules and enforced by an automatic stop-filter during data collection.

Channels of persons designated as foreign agents in Russia

The catalogue is assembled automatically from public Telegram pages and may contain cards of channels whose authors are entered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation into the register of foreign agents, as well as channels whose activity concerns foreign agents.

The project is not the author of these channels and does not distribute their materials. A card shows only publicly available facts about the channel's existence and measured metrics; the content of posts is not reproduced. If the description taken from a public Telegram page already carries a foreign-agent notice, it is kept exactly as the channel owner placed it.

The register of foreign agents is maintained by the Russian Ministry of Justice; the current list is published on the ministry's official site. A channel's presence in the catalogue is not an assessment of the lawfulness of its activity. On request from the owner or an authorised person a card is supplemented with the required notice or removed — the order and timelines are on the Rules page.
